Background
I am a speech and language therapist currently studying for a PhD in Speech Science at Newcastle University.
I graduated from Manchester Polytechnic, with a degree in Speech Pathology and Therapy in 1989. Since then I have held a number of Speech and Language Therapy posts at specialist and senior specialist levels in the NHS.
I completed my MSc in Human Communication Science at Newcastle University in 2005 gaining a degree with distinction and secured ESRC funding to study for a PhD. .
Areas of interest
My main areas of clinical interest and expertise are children with Specific Language Impairment (SLI) and those with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
I have worked in a number of educational and healthcare settings focussing mainly on the pre-school and early primary school years.
I am also interested in working with parents/carers as partners in the therapeutic process and in working in close collaboration with educational staff.
