Personal Statement
My primary interests are in Pure Mathematics, and in particular I like to study topology and functional analysis, and number theory and cryptography. As well as my foundations in Pure Mathematics, I have firm foundations in Statistics, being able to observe problems from both Frequentist and Bayesian perspectives. I am currently studying towards the Master of Mathematics degree at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Outside of my university education and mathematical expertise, I also develop several websites. My personal weblog at geoffbrady.net is both an outlet for my personal views and a showcase of my web design skills. I recently took part in the Sandbox Designs Competition, where one of my designs was voted onto the list of winning entries. I also maintain the website of the Stop AIDS Society Newcastle, and designed the websites for Bounce DMT & Trampoline Club and Nerja Sol.
My two main hobbies are music and football. My favourite bands include Queen, Dream Theater, and The Police. Though I would describe my favourite music as ‘rocky’ in nature, fundamentally my musical tastes are wide-ranging and indiscriminate. I also enjoy making music, having learnt to play — to varying abilities — the guitar, bass, keyboards, the recorder and an electronic drum machine. I am also a season ticket holder at Newcastle United's ground St. James' Park, and regularly attend their home matches.
