About me

Hello!

I am a Newcastle MA Public History graduate, currently working at the French Chamber of Great Britain as an events assistant.

I recently completed a project in partnership with the Great North Museum: Hancock, which was created as part of my masters. This project led me to pursue my interest in events, which I am working in now.

My background as a BA History student formed my interest in public history, as I became familiar with and excited by presenting the past in new ways, to encourage more public engagement. I have always had a flare for events planning and visual design, so turning the final project for my masters into an event seemed like the perfect synergy of my personal interests.

I chose to do a masters in Public History as I wanted to build on my academic foundation in history, whilst familiarising myself with new historical methods, and learning about digital programmes through coursework and professional developments. At points, I found myself challenged by daunting tasks, including website building and learning new softwares, such as GIS and Adobe Suite Pro. However, this has been a rewarding experience, as through my portfolio of projects published on this site, I now have a versatile skillset which assisted me in my career path, leading to my role as an Events Assistant at the French Chamber of Commerce. I was also fortunate enough to develop my digital abilities whilst studying my favourite periods in history: seventeenth-century France and nineteenth-century Britain.

I consider this event my most successful academic and professional accomplishment to date, and hope that you enjoy reading about what I have done!
